It’s time to do a more serious writing. Please visit my new blog. Thank you. :)

Socrates was once asked, ‘What’s the cure for love-at-first-sight?’ The philosopher replied, ‘Take a second look. This time closer.’
– My teammate sent this to me. Well I’m not really sure if Socrates really said this though. (haha) But on second thought, who cares who said this. It makes sense anyway, doesn’t it?
– quoted from a friend. :)
The Spaniards appealed to our emotions. The Americans influenced our minds. The Spaniards handed down to us religion. The Americans taught us the system of education. The Spaniards conquered us for centuries. The Americans didn’t even stayed here for a decade. Still, we stay in the shadow of America. The question is, until when?

It’s my first time to vote!

I woke up earlier than usual. I felt groggy but I decided to wake up anyway because today is a big day. It’s my first time to vote. And I know how important this is. I strongly believe that every vote counts (despite all the doubts and negativity).

I felt nervous. I don’t want my vote to go to waste. When my parents and I got to our assigned precinct, there were already a lot of people giving away sample ballots (which later becomes litter scattered on the streets).

Anyway, there was a good vibes I felt when we went in the public school. Maybe I also felt excited, and of course, I felt a new hope. This elections will define change in our country after so many years of not having a real president.

The crowd was already growing as early as 7:30am, I think, or 8am. The people must also be feeling the same excitement, and also they must have wanted to make sure that their votes would be counted. This elections is different. People have started to become more involved. It’s about time!

Everything was fine here in Malabon City. I am satisfied with the new system. We had to wait for a couple of minutes but voting really only takes 2 to 5 minutes. It’s efficient.

I could feel how relax the faculty volunteers are. And of course, one could see it on the faces of the voters that they are delighted when the machine verifies their ballots. I felt relief when the machine accepted my ballot. :)

I don’t know how it is like in other places. Somehow, I am annoyed with how the media delivers news. The way they say things is disheartening. And it is definitely not good.

All the hassle, the heat, etc., are little bits of sacrifices that we could do for our country to make sure that this elections would work out fine. Blame it on the COMELEC, that won’t change the situation. We should do something aside from just complaining.

For those who hasn’t voted, come out of your houses and do this one simple act. Be a hero for our country! This is your obligation, your right. Please do not sell it for only Php300, for crying out loud.

Make a wise choice. Vote intelligently!

We went to Meycauayan, Bulacan yesterday. And as we were touring the town, we had to ask for directions from the locals. We noticed how Filipinos give directions. They don’t give details. Their answers are very broad. It won’t be surprising if you get lost along your way. Unless, maybe, if you know the language deeply and you’re a natural street-smart.

Example:

Q: Saan po yung Chelsi?

A: Ah, Chelsi, malapit lang yun. Doon sa may likuan. (Then points direction.)

A: Chelsi, diyan sa kanto. Tapos liko ka. Doon na.

It’s very interesting, really. I think it tells something about the culture or the psyche of the Filipinos.

– Enough exploitation of all sorts!
In school we learn that mistakes are bad, and we are punished for making them. Yet, if you look at the way humans are designed to learn, we learn by making mistakes. We learn to walk by falling down. If we never fell down, we would never walk… The same is true for getting rich. Unfortunately the main reason most people are not rich is because they are terrified of losing. Winners are not afraid of losing. But losers are. Failure is part of the process of success. People who avoid failure also avoid success.

I am watching videos in lockerz.com to gain points and get a free iPod when I saw this video of Airborne Toxic Event’s song, This Losing. Liked! :D Gotta love the sound of the violin.

Lockerz.com videos can’t be shared so I looked for this song in youtube instead hehe :P

Helena Bonham Carter in Enid. This film is about the life of Enid Blyton, a famous children’s storybooks author. We were even surprised to find out that she was the person who created Noddy.
Helena is like a female version of Johnny Depp. She’s an excellent actress. No wonder she makes a good counterpart of Johnny Depp in the films Sweeney Todd and Alice in Wonderland.
